Watch the exact moment as Brisbane government worker, Adam Robertson, won $87,500 by picking the winning horse for the 2011 Melbourne Cup when he placed a $10,000 bet he won in a lead-up competition run by the radio station, TripleM.

The condition of the prize money was that he bet on a horse he believed would win the internationally acclaimed race.

Adam selected the winning horse, Dunaden out of a hat — his horse winning the 2011 Melbourne Cup by a hair’s breadth.

Adam and his wife Janet, both still in shock after their surprise win said they still couldn’t believe their luck.

We’re not going to waste it, we’re going to invest it in a house and then go on a holiday,” they said.
